(ATR) Here is a press release from Sochi 2014 announcing its new mobile web site.

Sochi 2014 Launches Cutting-Edge WAP Site

Russias bid provides wireless solution for real-time communication

Sochi, Russia, February 15, 2007 Using the most advanced technology available, Sochi 2014 will launch today a brand-new WAP site allowing media, International Olympic Committee members, and ardent sport enthusiasts alike to follow the bid in real-time from their cell phones, PDAs or BlackBerries, in the run up to the Evaluation Commission visit to Sochi next week.

The Sochi 2014 WAP site is a simplified replica of the bids website, providing key information on Sochi 2014 in three different languages: English, French and Russian. The new WAP site also provides an exclusive possibility to download Sochi 2014 ringtones and wallpapers. All mobile networks in Sochi support GPRS and EDGE technologies so all mobile devices are fully operational with a high-speed access to WWW and WAP sites. The launch of the new Sochi 2014 service comes less than a week before the IOC evaluation commissions visit to Sochi, in hopes of providing the most relevant and timely information possible to all those following the bid through this important milestone.

Sochi 2014 and the Russian government are fully committed to ensuring the success of the Games by providing the best-tested, most-reliable and highest-quality technology, should Sochi become a host city for 2014. Although most of the venues for the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games are to be constructed or renovated as a part of the Federal Target Programme (FTP), all the sites and roads are already fully covered by the mobile network. Sochi currently boasts a mobile operator capacity of approximately 29,000 simultaneous ccommunications.

Sochi 2014 Bid CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko commented on Sochi 2014 WAP site launch:

Our WAP site demonstrates that we are capable of delivering cutting-edge technology and the highest standard of service for hosting the Games. Sochi fans the world-over can now freely connect to the bids site from anywhere at anytime, providing an invaluable wireless solution for rapid and effective communication.
