Speaking to Around the Rings
, Peruvian José Quiñones, one of the vice presidents of that organization, confirmed the newest postponement of the important forum.
Tentatively, the Congress is still set to be held in Lausanne.
"Indeed, the venue continues to be Lausanne, although it is planned to study more options in case the restrictions due to the pandemic in Switzerland change," said Quiñones.
To hold the elections, the physical presence of the delegates is required. The IWF has more than 190 member federations.
Thursday's meeting lasting several hours was led by the interim president of the IWF Ursula Papandrea. The American has led a reform process with her executive after the resignation of Tamás Aján last April.
Numerous issues such as the work of the anti-doping commission, good governance, calendar of activities, technical aspects of the competitions, and in general about the actions of the IWF and the future of sport, were analyzed by the Executive Committee, Quiñones said.
