  • Hamilton2026 Commonwealth Games Bid Committee Hosts Virtual Community Forum


    The Hamilton2026 Commonwealth Games Bid Committee will host two separate Virtual Community Forums on Wednesday, September 30 at 4 p.m. ET and Thursday, October 1 at 4 p.m. ET.

    Moderated by Hamiltonian sports journalist, Teddy Katz, these hour-long sessions will provide an opportunity for the public and media to learn more about the unprecedented opportunity to host the Hamilton2026 Commonwealth Games. A Games that will be customized to the needs of the region and designed specifically to accelerate the region’s regeneration efforts and build healthier communities. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with the Bid Committee as they address the Game Plan, Affordable Housing and the social impact strategy.

    Each session will include a presentation by the Bid Committee and a panel of community experts, followed by a Q&A where comments and feedback are invited. Those that are unable to attend either session, questions may be submitted to the panel in advance through the registration link.

    You can submit a question to the Bid Committee in advance as part of your registration.

    However, all participants will be able to type questions directly to the moderator as part of the Q&A session during the Forum.

    We will address as many questions possible within the hour and will provide the presentation materials and additional information on our website following the sessions.

    Hamilton 2026 is comprised of community leaders and volunteers in the Hamilton area. The group had successfully sought the rights to be Canada's Candidate City for the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games, but were invited by the Commonwealth Games Federation and Commonwealth Sport Canada to pivot to consider the hosting of the 2026 Games in order to accelerate pandemic relief and economic recovery.
