  • U.S Delegation to Athens


    July 15, 2004 ? As expected, Former President George Bush will lead the presidential delegation to the Athens Olympics next month. But with a month to go before the Games, the White House has revealed the rest of the official party.

    Spokesman Scott McLellan says the delegation will also include Barbara Bush, ambassador to Greece Tom Miller, presidential daughters Jenna and Barbara Bush, San Diego Chargers owner Alex Spanos and his wife Faye, as well as tennis legend Chris Evert.

    Mr. Bush?s appointment as delegation leader has been known for more than a year. Miller has been a key player in planning the U.S. involvement in Athens preparations, particularly security. Jenna Bush, 22, and her twin sister Barbara, have started making public appearances on behalf of their father. In 2000, Chelsea, the daughter of President Clinton helped stand-in for him at the Sydney Games.

    Evert played in the 1988 Olympics the year before her retirement, but did not medal. She is married to Winter Olympian Andy Mill, a skier,
