July 14, 2004 (ATR) ? Just 30 days are left to opening ceremony for the 2004 Games ? and the decorations for the big event are about to be hung. Athens 2004 President Gianna Angelopoulos will unveil the Look of the Games for Athens in midday briefing Thursday at ATHOC headquarters.
The look includes banners that will hang along streets as well as signs and other decorative elements.
Whether the unveiling will receive much coverage in the Athens media remains to be seen: journalists are on strike until Thursday, demanind better pay.
Meanwhile, officials with the government and Greek electrical system are still sorting out Monday?s blackout that was one of the most widespread in years. Although power was restored in a matter of hours, there have been suspicions that the power grid is not up to Olympian demands.
