Scandinavia Celebrates With Torch Relay
(ATR) - The Athens Olympic Torch Relay heads into northern Europe this week after stops in Munich and Berlin, hosts of the 1976 and 1936 Olympics. Germany is one of six nations along the route of the worldwide relay where the relay has stopped in multiple cities.
July 1 is Stockholm's date, with the route passing the stadium (still in use) from the 1912 Games. Helsinki (1952) follows, with Moscow, 1980 host and 2012 candidate city receiving the torch relay in July 3.
The global relay makes just four more stops after Moscow before returning to Athens on July 9.
