Australia, Japan First Hosts for Torch
(ATR) - The Athens Olympic Torch Relay opens 35 days of travel this weekend with stops in Australia and Japan.
Olympic champion Cathy Freeman ran the first leg of the relay in Sydney at the Opera House, followed by a series of runners ending at the Olympic Caldron in Homebush Bay which was relit.
June 5 the relay is in Melbourne and then a journey north to Tokyo. Next week the Olympic Flame will travel for the first time to China, India and Africa with stops in Cairo and Cape Town.
