Athens Tickets Back on Sale, Demand Down
(ATR) - Public ticket sales for the Athens Olympics have resumed with more than half of the 5.3 million available seats still unsold.
The re-launch of ticket sales follows a 45-day quiet period when seats were assigned to the 1.8 million tickets already sold.
Lower demand from corporate sponsors is believed to be one of the reasons for the slow pace of sales.
Despite the sales numbers, revenue from ticket sales is getting close to the target forecast by Athens organizers. So far 137 million euros has been raised, 183 million euros is the goal.
