IOC Could Order New Drug Tests For SLC
OCTOBER 29, 2003 (ATR) - Nearly 300 urine samples gathered during the Salt Lake City Winter Games may be re-tested or THG, the designer steroid uncovered earlier this month.
Lawyers for the International Olympic Committee are reported to researching the issues involved with re-testing the now- frozen samples in storage at the UCLA Olympic Lab in Los Angeles. Custody of the samples as well as their viability for re- testing have to be considered by the lawyers.
In other developments on the doping front, the number of prominent athletes testing positive for the stimulant modafinil is growing with reports in the past day of positive tests from sprinter Chryste Gaines and hurdlers Sandra Glover and Eric Thomas.
