    Tokyo, 16 June 2008 - TOKYO 2016, Japan's Bid to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, today launched an online window to unite Japan and the world at The new TOKYO 2016 website will be central to promoting Japan's unique Bid to the most compact Games ever at the very heart of the vibrant metropolis of Tokyo.

    Following Tokyo's selection as a Candidate City for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the new website has been made available in Spanish, in addition to French, English and Japanese. This will enable a wider community of online users to learn about TOKYO 2016's Bid for the Summer Games.

    TOKYO 2016's innovative website provides a taste of the Bid's efforts to host a media-friendly Games, with latest news a click away and simple navigation to find informative content. It includes a dedicated online Press Room, containing a press release archive through to access to picture galleries. As the bidding process continues and TOKYO 2016's unique Games plans develop, media and visitors from across the world will have access to the latest images, concepts and maps of Tokyo and its Olympic sites.

    The new website will give TOKYO 2016 a dynamic platform from which to share its Bid vision and commitments, harnessed by its 'Musubi Promise' to the world. The promise will see TOKYO 2016 unite
    youth with sport, old and new Japan, heritage and innovation, green with 2016 and the Games and city life.

    TOKYO 2016 will deliver a legacy of the greatest ever urban and environmental transformation, as well as uniquely integrating the Games around the heart and soul of one of the world's great cities.
    Hosting a wealth of information and dynamic features, the new website is designed to be a 21st Century resource for a 21st Century Games. The user-friendly homepage will encourage people from across the globe to embrace the Olympic spirit, while finding out more about TOKYO 2016.
