  • Muhammad Ali To Singapore for NYC 2012


    Muhammad Ali launched the Torch Relay for the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. 
    (ATR) Olympian Muhammad Ali will be part of the New York delegation to the Singapore IOC Session in two weeks. The announcement came from the office of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. "We are forever in awe of this great man," says the mayor.

    "When I look back and remember my greatest, most exciting moments as a boxer, competing in New York and competing in the Olympics are at the top of that list," said Ali about his support of the New York bid.

    The coming week should bring news of more celebrities who will be heading to Singapore on behalf of the five 2012 Olympic bids.

    Madrid has announced The Queen of Spain and sports greats such as Miguel Indurain and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario.

    The IOC election for a 2012 host city is set for July 6 in Singapore.
