Lepzig 2012: Fix Problems or Cancel Bid
NOVEMBER 10, 2003 (ATR) - Leaders of Leipzig's bid for the 2012 Games are under order from the German Olympic Committee to end the controversies that have cast a shadow over the project - or risk cancellation of the bid.
The ultimatum was delivered in a weekend meeting of the German NOC in Leipzig. While scheduled in the bid city for some time, the meeting comes in the wake of three resignations in the past month connected with the bid.
NOC President Klaus Steinbach says the bid is in need of "intensive care" to stay alive.
