(ATR) The final venue test for the Turin Olympics is at the new Lingotto Oval through the weekend. About 250 athletes are competing in the ISU World Cup event at the oval, a 20,000 square meter arena with seating for 8,200.
IOC President Jacques Rogge and International Skating Union President Ottavio Cinquanta were in the stands for the opening of competition Friday morning.
The world cup is the final in a series of sports events held since last year under the name Torino Ice. The events have been used in particular to acquaint Turinese with the new venues, including volunteers, 300 of them serving at this weekend's test.Your best source of news about the Olympics is www.aroundtherings.com, for subscribers only.
