(ATR) A respected sports administrator in Austria will lead Salzburg's bid for the 2014 Olympics. The announcement Friday of Anton Shutti as managing director came with the signing of the agreement to form a company to run the bid.
Shutti has been the managing director of Sport Hilfe, the Austrian sports foundation which is aimed at developing elite athletes. Schutti has also been the international racing director of Fischer and Atomic ski manufacturers.
Salzburg Winterspiele 2014 GmbH is the official title of the new company, formed as a partnership with the city and province of Salzburg, the Salzburg tourism promotion fund, other host communities in the region and the Austrian Olympic Committee.
The bid will be overseen by a board that includes Salzburg mayor Heinz Schaden as chair and Austrian Olympic Committee president and IOC member Leo Wallner.
Using the theme "Salzburg for Austria - Austria for Salzburg", this latest bid for the Games is supposed to focus on national cooperation to bring the Olympics to Salzburg, according to a statement from the bid committee.
