Barry McMullin Named Around the Rings Chief Revenue Officer
(Atlanta) Barry McMullin has been named Chief Revenue Officer for Around the Rings and World Football Insider.
“Over the past year, we conducted an in-depth search and interviewed some of the sports world’s leading marketers to find the perfect candidate to help drive our growth,” said Sheila Scott Hula, publisher. “We needed someone who knows the Olympics, soccer, and sales and sports marketing inside out. Barry could not be a better fit.”
As Chief Revenue Officer, McMullin is responsible for sales and marketing for two of the world’s most respected sport business publications. Around the Rings is a constant source of business news and information about the Olympics. Its sister publication -- World Football Insider -- was the first internet publication to focus on the business of the soccer. INSIDER’S readership in particular is growing rapidly and tripled in the period of May 1, 2010 to July 15, 2010, as measured by the number of unique visitors.
Both publications are recognized for their coverage of Olympic and World Cup bids.
"Around the Rings and World Football Insider provide essential daily information for those involved and immersed in the world of sports and large events. I am energized to promote and market a small part of the Olympic Movement as well as the world's #1 sport. I look forward to associating with many brands, influencers and key individuals who make the sports world go 'round," McMullin said.
McMullin's sports career began when he served as Senior Manager of Sales and Licensing with the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. McMullin and his team ensured the Games’ financial success by landing $260 million in sponsorship revenue. McMullin played a key role by specifically helping to secure partnership dollars from Cardinal Health, Herman Miller, O.C. Tanner, Compass, Certified Angus Beef and others. From 2000 – 2006, McMullin was with the National Basketball Association (NBA) where he sold marketing partnerships for the league and its annual All-Star Weekend.
Most recently McMullin was vice president of sales for Wasserman Media Group, selling stadium naming rights and cornerstone marketing partnerships to the New York Giants/New York Jets new NFL stadium set to open for play in 2010.
McMullin will be based in Manhattan. He can be reached at Barry@aroundtherings.com or +1 917.399.5926.
