  • Denmark to host the FIG Trampoline and Tumbling World Championships 2015

When the Danish trampoline jumpers are having their go in order to qualify for the Olympics 2016 it will be on Danish soil. This became clear after the International Gymnastics Federation, FIG, officially appointed Denmark as hosts of the FIG Trampoline and Tumbling World Championships 2015 in the past weekend.

Thanks to determined and targeted bidding efforts, the Danish Gymnastics Federation, Sport Event Denmark and Sport Event Fyn took home the title as hosts of the world championships in the past weekend. Since 2010, the three Danish partners have worked according to a three step plan, comprising a world cup in 2011, a world cup in 2013 and then the culmination in 2015: the FIG Trampoline and Tumbling World Championships.

Flemming Knudsen, President of the Danish Gymnastics Federation says: “I am very proud that, jointly, we have succeeded in winning the hosting of this great event to Denmark. It is, indeed, a result of a close and constructive cooperation, which we in the Danish Gymnastics Federation highly appreciate. A world championship on Danish soil has immense importance for the development of the trampoline and tumbling sport in Denmark.”

It is also with great pleasure that the host city, Odense, is looking forward to host yet another major international championship in the spectacular trampoline and tumbling sport.

Erik Juhl Mogensen, Director of Sport Event Fyn, explains: “Once again, we are very pleased that Odense is entrusted with a major international elite trampoline and tumbling event. No doubt, Arena Fyn is offering the optimal framework for an event of this standard. In addition, we have a long-standing experience of hosting trampoline and tumbling championships in Odense. Altogether this makes a perfect platform for a successful and memorable staging of the FIG Trampoline and Tumbling World Championships 2015.”

”Lars Lundov, CEO of Sport Event Denmark says: “I am delighted that yet another world championship in an Olympic sport has been taken home to Denmark for several reasons. Just to mention a few: Firstly, it gives the Danish athletes, ranked as top-10 jumpers, the advantage of competing on home ground. Secondly, as the event is an opportunity for the athletes to qualify for the Olympics we are having the best possible media exposure of the event and of Denmark as a high-profile sports event destination. “

The FIG Trampoline and Tumbling World Championships 2015 are staged in Arena Fyn in the City of Odense from 21 to 30 November. After the main event, the World Age Group Competitions (WAGC) for the youth are being held.
