Lima, Peru will host the 2019 Pan American Games. Lima proposes the games be held July 26-August 11.
The Peruvian Capital beat out Ciudad Bolivar, La Punta, and Santiago at a vote in the PASO General Assembly in Toronto, Canada.
Lima received 31 of the 57 votes. Santiago and La Punta each received nine votes, while Ciudad Bolivar received eight.
Peru has never hosted a Pan American Games.
An athlete’s village holding 9,000 athletes will be built for the games, only 20 minutes from many venues. The village will be located in the El Callao district of Lima.
Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be held at the 45,000-seat National Stadium. All sports from the 2020 Sports Program will be featured in the games.
