(ATLANTA) – Ed Hula III has been named to the newly created role of director of business development for Around the Rings, the world’s leading publication focusing on the business of the Olympics.
Hula has spent the last 10 years as a reporter and assignment editor for ATR. He will be responsible for ATR’s day-to-day activities involving sales, marketing, special events and partnerships. He will work with the established sales team to support and encourage their endeavors, as well as taking on projects of his own.
“We are excited that Ed is transitioning into this new role,” says Marcel Tirado, ATR’s chief operating officer. “This presents an opportunity to strengthen our relationships throughout the Olympic Movement even further, and to go above and beyond with our support as we head toward the Rio 2016 Summer Games.”
Hula’s extensive experience includes covering the 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014 Olympic Games. He also has covered four IOC Sessions and the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010, among numerous other events. These assignments have taken him to more than two dozen countries.
“I'm incredibly excited for the opportunity,” Hula said. “The Around the Rings brand is blue chip, and I look forward to being able to continue as an ambassador for ATR while helping drive the company’s growth.”
Hula will be ATR’s point of contact for major events in 2015, including the SportAccord Convention in Sochi, Russia; the IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur, and the ANOC General Assembly in Washington DC.
He is a 2009 graduate of Georgia State University where he studied political science and philosophy. He is active in his community in a variety of organizations, including Catholic Charities Atlanta, Little League Baseball and the Atlanta Bonsai Society.
Hula begins his new assignment February 4.
