    Triathlon Canada Re-branding 
    Triathlon Canada have launched a new portal as a part of their re-branding process and would like the Triathlon community to comment.  To review the portal click here. Within the portal there is a five minute survey, open for anyone willing to complete it until Jan. 3, 2017. 

    IAAF Portal to Report Doping 
    The IAAF has launched a secure online portal in six languages that can be used to report doping, the latest weapon in its fight against cheating in sport. The launch ensures that reporting suspicions of doping is made as easy as possible by simply clicking on the ‘REPORT DOPING’ banner which is displayed on the main IAAF home page and its medical and anti-doping section.The page – which is available in English, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Arabic – is available here.

    Jamie Nieto medical fund
    For anyone who does not know, Jamie is a two-time Olympian and four-time USA Champion in the high jump. He earned his place on the podium the right way, through hard work and dedication to his craft. He is now a private coach for an elite group of jumpers, in addition to an actor, writer, and producer. Those within the track world and beyond are fond of his regular interview series, Holla Athcha Boy, where he interviews world class and Olympic athletes. On Saturday, April 23rd, Jamie Nieto was involved in a tragic accident while at practice, during which he suffered spinal cord injuries. All the details are still coming together regarding his condition and prognosis, however one thing is clear: he needs our help.     The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC) has won its first major industry accolade, announced today as a 2016 Australian Business Award winner for Sustainability.
    The award highlights GOLDOC’s leadership in sustainability which will ensure the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) is delivered to international standards of best practice, leaving positive economic, environmental, social and community legacies

    NASC Annual Member Awards
    The NASC Awards Committee are accepting entries for the Annual Member Awards. Submitting an entry for the highest honor an organization or individual in the sport tourism industry can receive is now easier than ever!50 page submissions are a thing of the past.The simplified submission form now only requires a brief explanation of the program or event for which a member is applying. Members can also upload multiple supporting documents and a link to a video to support their submission.
    Organizational Award Categories
    In previous years, organizational awards were open to Active members (destinations) only. For the first time this year, an organizational award is open to recognize the Allied member of the year. View categories.
    Individual Award Categories

    WOA Society Grant Program 

    World Olympians Association has announced the launch of a new program offering National Olympians Associations (NOAs) the opportunity to apply for one of five Service to Society grants of up to US$5,000 each.The application deadline is 16 January 2017. Grants will be announced and awarded in February 2017.


    The Olympic Games and the Media - Coursera Platform
    The Centre d’Estudis Olímpics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona has just launched the second edition of the Massive Open Online Course The Olympic Games and the Media on the Coursera Platform.

    The Olympic Games and the Media analyses the intersection between the Olympic Games, traditional and new social media and how television contributes to fund, shape and disseminate the major sporting spectacle in the world: the Olympic Games.

    The great novelty of this second edition is that it will be offered with Spanish subtitles. All the teaching materials will be provided both in English and Spanish for free.

    AISTS Masters of Sport Administration

    The Athlete scholarship funds half the tuition fee of the AISTS Master of Sports Administration - a 14-month programme developing the future leaders in sport.

    WADA 2017 Scientific Research Grants

    WADA has now issued its call for proposals for the 2017 Scientific Research Grants. WADA is committed to increasing the volume of research dedicated to developing new and improved detection methods for performance-enhancing substances and methods. Since 2001, the Agency has committed more than US$69 million to scientific research.Scientists interested in submitting research projects are invited to apply by Feb.15, 2017 via WADA's online application platform.     The UIM will be offering photographers the opportunity to submit photographs of the 2016 reacing season for a prize. Photographs will be judged in the categories of Creativity, Technical Quality, Composition and selection of topic.     2017 IAAF Diamond League
    In a major restructure, the IAAF Diamond League has adopted a championship style model with the finalists competing for a prize pool of $3.2 million.
    From next season, athletes will earn points in the first 12 IAAF Diamond League meetings to qualify for two final meetings where $100,000 will be at stake in each of the 32 Diamond Disciplines, including $50,000 for each winner.

    Throw Down Challenge

    Tender Opportunities: 

    WTF launches three bidding processes for its events between 2017-2024
    (WTF)

    The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has opened three separate bidding processes for its events in 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2024 respectively, as the federation continues to implement a more systematic and collaborative procedure for staging its events.The registration, application, evaluation and selection phases for the bidding process for events in 2017 and 2018 will take place between January and March 2017 with the selection of host cities to take place at the WTF Extraordinary Council Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on 7 March 2017.
    Host cities for the events between 2018 and 2019 will be decided in Muju, Korea on 22 June 2017, just before the WTF’s flagship event, the World Taekwondo Championships.


    Executive Committee approves bidding process for FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023
    FIBA EuroBasket 2015 was the first edition of Europe's premier basketball competition to be organised by multiple hosts. The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 could follow suite and take place in more than one country. FIBA's Executive Committee convened a meeting on Tuesday 7 June, during which it approved the bidding process for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. That edition of FIBA's flagship event has the potential to be the first organised by and staged in more than one territory after FIBA's Central Board came out in favour of receiving bids from multiple host countries. Moving forward with the process, FIBA will send requests for expression of interest to all of its national member federations this month. Those wishing to be taken into consideration must confirm their interest by 31 August. Following the Applicant Phase and the Candidate Phase, FIBA's Central Board will ultimately announce the host(s) of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 at its end-of-year meeting in 2017.

    The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has initiated an innovative host city selection process and organized the Partnership Workshop under the theme of “WTF Events, Why and How Bid?” The Partnership Workshop will provide an opportunity for the WTF and potential bidders to understand and clarify each other’s expectations and objective from the earliest stage.

    FIFA invites companies to tender to be the Public Food & Beverage Concessionaire in Russia
    FIFA has invited prospective tenderers to submit proposals for the FIFA Public Food & Beverage Concession operations at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ and FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017. 
    The FIFA Public Food & Beverage Concessionaire Programme is the programme which FIFA will oversee to cater food and beverage for general stadium ticket holders at both tournaments. The main objective of the tender is to provide quality products across all venues, with strong encouragement to also highlight regional culinary specialities.
    Across both events, an estimated 3.7 million tickets will be available to the general public for matches at the 12 FIFA World Cup and four FIFA Confederations Cup stadiums, and the Public Food & Beverage Concessionaire Programme will play a major role in their matchday experience. The programme will also provide temporary jobs for thousands of local Russian workers in the eleven Host Cities. 
    At the 2014 FIFA World Cup™, over 12,000 temporary jobs were created for Brazilian citizens at public concession stands with over 3.1 million food and beverage transactions taking place at the stadiums over the course of the competition. For more information, please click here
