    Statement regarding to PyeongChang 2018

    Tsunekazu Takeda
    IOC Member
    President, Japanese Olympic Committee

“The Japanese Olympic Committee is looking forward to participate in the Olympic Winter
Games PyeongChang 2018 and will be in PyeongChang together with the athletes and the
Japanese Delegation whom have been training and preparing for the past four years.

“As a fellow Asian NOC, I strongly believe in the success of PyeongChang 2018, which is a kick
off of consecutive Olympic Games to be held in Asia, as it continues to Tokyo 2020 and to
    Beijing 2022.

“As an IOC Coordination Commission Member for PyeongChang 2018, I have been closely
involved in the process and preparation by the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the
2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG), which I know they are at the last stage
progressing well. Also, I know that POCOG will ensure to provide a safe Games for the entire
    Olympic Family.

“I am very excited to join the invitation from the IOC to the lighting of the flame in Olympia
for the success of the Games. Through celebrating the power of peace, I believe that POCOG
will host a magnificent Olympic Winter Games.”
