Buenos Aires - November 29. The Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games Organizing
Committee will celebrate, on December 5, the International Volunteer Day with the
launching of the largest sports volunteer program in the Argentine history.
The registration of candidates will be done online at www.buenosaires2018.com and will be
opened until March 31.
Under the idea “Be part of history”, the program will offer a variety of positions within
multiple areas such as assistance to spectators, translation services, media relations,
assistance in sports competitions, assistance to delegations, health and technology.
Voluntary work is one of the main values of the Olympic Movement. The Games wouldn’t be
possible without volunteers’ participation, dedication and commitment.
“Athletes are the center of the Olympic Movement and of the Games,” said Gerardo
Werthein, president of the Buenos Aires 2018 Organizing Committee.
“Volunteers are essential for the Movement and essential for the development of the Youth
Olympic Games,” he added.
The up to 8,000 volunteers for Buenos Aires 2018 will be chosen from a list of local and
foreign candidates. They must be of age (+18) before the Games start on October 6, 2018,
and there’s no age limit. One of the requirements is that they are available during a minimum
of 10 days so as to take part in the events.
Assessment criteria are multiple: education, languages or experience in large events and
within the required areas. Aptitudes will be studied case by case.
Volunteers will receive the necessary trainings for being able to perform their duties.
