ANOC secretary general Gunilla Lindberg (ATR)
Gunilla Lindberg is number seven in the 2018 edition of the Around the Rings Golden 25. Published since 1997, the Golden 25 is an annual review of people, events and issues expected to influence the Olympic Movement in the year ahead.

Lindberg, an expert on winter sports, has followed the bid from PyeongChang for the 2018 Winter Olympics from bid to to closing ceremony. She led the Evaluation Commission and now the Coordination Commission.

While the first Winter Games in South Korea may not be drawing record-setting ticket sales and are short on promotion, the preparation appears to be solid otherwise with few problems in the lead-up. Venues, infrastructure and services all seem ready to go.

Lindberg’s other major role is secretary general of the Association of National Olympic Committees, a post she has held since 2004. She is on the front line administering the group that represents the 206 NOCs of the world. She now is in the midst of organizing the 2018 General Assembly set for Tokyo in October.

Elected to the IOC in 1996, Lindberg is an Executive Board member with two years left in her term. She turns 70 in 2018 but can serve until age 80 retirement.

    2017 ranking: #2
