The Beach Games will take place in October 2019 with just under 2000 athletes competing in 15 disciplines. Athletes from as many as 206 National Olympic Committees could attend.
For the seventh time since San Diego was selected in 2013 as the host for the debut Beach Games, a coordination commission from the Association of National Olympic Committees has visited San Diego to check on preparations.
Those meetings were followed by visits last weekend from officials of the sports federations which will be staging events in San Diego.
ANOC Secretary-General Gunilla Lindberg, IOC member in Sweden, led the team in its inspection over the past few days. She speaks with Around the Rings Editor Ed Hula from San Diego about her visit.
Reported by Ed Hula.
