(ATR) There’s talk from Sofia about a 2024 Winter YOG bid.
IOC President Thomas Bach met with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borrisov Friday. Bach is said to have praised Bulgarian efforts at hosting sports events. Currently the country is co-hosting with Italy the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship.
Bulgaria has launched Winter Olympic bids for 1992 and 1994 and was considering the 2016 Youth Olympic Games.
"Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has asked the Minister of Youth and Sport Krasen Kralev to
prepare Sofia's bid to host the Winter Youth Olympic Games in 2024," says a statement from the sports ministry reported by Reuters
following the meeting with Bach.
Lausanne holds the next Winter YOG in 2020.
