(ATR) Decisions and debate affecting the future of sailing are on the manifest this week as World Sailing holds its annual meeting for the first time in Florida.

The program for the Paris 2024 Olympics and the future of Paralympic sailing will be covered this week, along with more than 200 proposals for rules changes. The federation will also review preparations for Tokyo 2020, including the first test event for sailing in September and the just ended Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.
The World Sailing 2018 Annual Conference takes place through Nov. 4 at the Hyatt Regency in Sarasota on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico.
More than 500 delegates
are expected for the meeting.
The conference includes the finals of the World Sailing esport competition and the federation Award gala. Top sailors and coaches will be recognized at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center. Presentation of the Rolex World Sailor of the Year Award will be a highlight.

Three new awards in 2018 include the World Sailing 11th Hour Racing Sustainability Award, the Team of the Year and the Boat of the Year.
World Sailing President Kim Anderson will lead the fed’s Council meeting Nov. 2 and 3. The council decisions will come to the floor for approval Nov. 4 at the general assembly.
