(ATR) Cali, Colombia will host the inaugural edition of the Junior Pan American Games in 2021.
Two other cities were bidding for the event, Santa Ana, El Salvador and Monterrey, Mexico
The announcement was made on Facebook Live
, a first for Panam Sports.
The three candidates presented themselves today at a meeting of the Panam Sports Executive Committee in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Cali offers the experience as a Pan American Games host city, as well as hosting the 2013 World Games. The city of 2.4 million in the southwestern corner of the country is a hub for Colombian sport.
Baltazar Medina, President of the Colombian Olympic Committee maintained that Cali has everything necessary to host the Games.
“First, we have complete sports infrastructure capable of handling the full sports program of these Games,” Medina has said.
“We also have the full commitment of all levels of government to ensure that these Games will have all the resources they need to ensure success.”
