  • Russian Track Cycling Olympic Champion Viktor Manakov dies at 58

    The Russian Cycling Federation mourns the passing of Viktor Viktorovich Manakov’s Olympic champion in track cycling.

    A few days ago, he entered the infectious disease hospital in Moscow on Volokolamskoye Highway, where he died on the morning of May 12, without regaining consciousness.

    Manakov, the 1980 Olympic champion, died at the age of 58.

    Along with the 1980 Olympic gold medal in 4,000 cycling event, Manakov is the holder of one gold, two silver and bronze medals of world championships in pursuit racing.

    The funeral will be held on May 14 at 11.00 Moscow time.
