ITF Presidential Candidate Sets Out Promises
(ATR) Dave Miley says the tennis governing body’s image is at “one of its lowest points in ITF history”, as he publishes a manifesto aimed at revamping the game and increasing revenues.

The former ITF director of development, nominated by Tennis Ireland, laid out his vision for the federation at a media briefing in London on the sidelines of the Wimbledon tennis championships.

Miley is one of four ITF presidential candidates. David Haggerty is running for a second term, with Ivo Kaderka of the Czech Republic and India’s Anil Khanna are also bidding to unseat the incumbent president.

Blackmun cited health issues for his resignation, but he was also under fire from victims of the USA Gymnastics sex abuse scandal. Olympians and hundreds of other athletes were abused by the former team doctor now serving prison terms that amount to a life sentence.

Blackmun remains a target of critics who say he failed to act in a timely and effective manner when he first learned of the suspicions around Dr. Larry Nassar four years ago. Blackmun has also been subject to speculation that his written testimony to the U.S. Senate in 2018 may contain perjured testimony regarding his knowledge of the trouble in gymnastics and how he responded.

The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), which made the announcement on Monday, is trying something new with the 47th edition of the tournament by playing it in two countries and dividing the games equally between them.

The 12 teams will be divided into two groups of six, rather than three groups of four, as it was in Brazil this summer. Colombia will host the northern group of Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil and Peru. Argentina will stage the southern group which also includes Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia and Chile.
