    ATR Radio-New Campaign Battles Sport Abuse

    A new initiative called Courage First is designed to complement the documentary At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal.

    Backed with a $1 million commitment from the Foundation for Global Sports Development, Courage First combines use of the film, another GSD project, with appearances by experts and abuse survivors.

    Dr. Steven Ungerleider, a producer of the film and a GSD leader, talks with Around the Rings Editor Ed Hula about Courage First in this edition of ATRadio.

    Pan Am Protests Draw Warnings

    (ATR) The U.S. athletes who staged protests during their gold-medal ceremonies two weeks ago at the Pan American Games in Lima are both reprimanded for their behavior.

    Race Imboden, a member of the champion team in the fencing foil event, took a knee while his teammates remained standing during the national anthem. The next day, Gwen Berry, the hammer throw gold medalist, raised a clenched fist on the podium as the anthem came to a close.

    In identical letters to both athletes USOPC CEO Sarah Hirshland acknowledges the right of the athletes to express themselves.

    Chef de Mission Seminar Closes in Tokyo

    (ATR) The final day of the Tokyo 2020 Chef de Mission Seminar is underway in Tokyo.

    The three day seminar is traditionally held in Olympic host cities with one year to go. 

    All 206 of the world’s National Olympic Committees are invited to send delegations.

    The seminar included visits to venues such as the Olympic Stadium and Olympic Village.

    “Our role is to prepare the best stage, so that athletes can achieve their personal best. We will present our plans during this seminar. With the athletes-first concept as our focus, we would like to continue to work together with NOCs and the IOC to make smooth Games preparations in the remaining year,” Tokyo 2020 COO Yushiko Nunomura said at the opening of the seminar.

    Encuesta a Triatletas  Tras Test Olmpico Por Calor

    (ATR) La Unión Internacional de Triatlón (UIT) quiere saber si harán falta más medidas para proteger la salud de los deportistas en Tokio 2020.
    Casado supervisó en Jamaica competencias infantiles del Caribe (ITU)

    Al terminar hace unas horas el Test Olímpico en los mismos escenarios para el triatlón dentro de 11 meses, la UIT comenzó una encuesta entre todos los triatletas, Para triatletas y entrenadores participantes.

    La española Marisol Casado, presidenta de la UIT y miembro del Comité Olimpico Internacional, en declaraciones exclusivas a Around The Rings,dijo que se sostendrán también “múltiples reuniones” con el Comité Organizador para analizar las medidas puestas en práctica “y ver si son necesarias más”.

    Casado, ex triatleta y una de las principales líderes olímpicas de la actualidad, es miembro de cinco comisiones del COI entre ellas la Comisión de Coordinación para Los Angeles 2028 . Es también integrante del Consejo de la Asociación de Federaciones Internacionales de Deportes de Verano (ASOIF).
