    08/25/19

(ATR) Tokyo 2020 marks one year to the Paralympics.

The big day included the unveiling of the medal design as well as the brightly colored outfits for torchbearers in the Paralympic Torch Relay.

German long jumper Markus Rehm is among the athletes who traveled to Tokyo for the one year to go events. Rehm and other pair Olympians gave demonstrations of sport around Tokyo on a Sunday afternoon.

International Paralympic Committee President Andrew Parsons is expecting excellent conditions next August when the games begin in Tokyo. He acknowledges that heat issues are being addressed for the Paralympics, just as with the Olympics that end two weeks before the Paralympics.

Parsons talks with Around the Rings editor Ed Hula about Tokyo 2020 as well as the 2019 Parapan American Games. The Parapans are underway in Lima, Peru this week.
