    Free family-friendly international celebration of sports and culture marks last opportunity in U.S. to watch the world’s best in FIBA 3x3 competition before Tokyo 2020

    El Segundo, Calif. (September 18, 2019) - The L.A. Street Festival will feature an action-packed schedule for its inaugural two-day block party, offering a range of competition and entertainment to engage fans, in El Segundo, Calif. from Sept. 20-21, 2019.

    Featuring the USA’s Team Princeton and 11 other teams from around the globe, the FIBA 3x3 World Tour event at L.A. Street Festival is the only chance fans will get to watch the world’s top teams compete in the U.S. before the discipline makes its Olympic debut in Tokyo next summer. The on-court action will also include a three-point shootout and high-flying dunk contests including Harlem Globetrotter and 2018 alum of “The Bachelorette” Christon Staples.

    In addition, Hoop It Up, the largest grassroots 3x3 basketball tour in the U.S. owned by former NBA Most Valuable Player, All Star and World Champion Kevin Garnett, will preview its 2020 tour with an open tournament. The free festival sponsored and hosted by the L.A. Times will also include an open esports Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament and will be complete with music, food trucks and activities for all ages.

    FIBA 3x3 World Tour
    The L.A. Street Festival will give fans an exclusive up-close experience with the fast-paced, street-style basketball showdown that has attracted millions of players worldwide. Olympic hopefuls and the world’s top players are set to compete, including three-time FIBA world champion Dusan Bulut (SRB) and 2019 MVP Robbie Hummel (USA) from Team Princeton who will battle it out for the title and prize money. Flo Hoops will also livestream the action.

    Twelve 3x3 teams in total will compete:

    Novi Sad (SRB) - ranked No. 1 in the world
    Princeton (USA) - ranked No. 6 in the world and team includes three players who won the FIBA 3x3 World Cup in 2019 for the U.S.
    Zemun (SRB) - ranked No. 9 in the world; 2017 World Tour Champions
    Liman (SRB) - ranked No. 3 in the world
    Gagarin (RUS) - top team in Russia and ranked No. 10 in the world
    Lausanne (CHE) - top team in Switzerland and ranked No. 15 in the world
    Amsterdam (NED) ranked No. 8 in the world
    Jeddah (SAU) - Brand new team on the World Tour; won the Huawei Xiong to qualify
    Piran (SLO) - No. 5 ranked team in the world and ranked No. 1 in Slovenia;Features two of the only three players in the world who have played in all eight editions of the World Tour (Simon Finzgar and Adin Kavgic)
    Ulaanbaatar (MGL) - ranked No. 21 in the world; players also represent Mongolia, a country of just 3 million inhabitants, who won the Asia Cup in 2017
    Rio Norte (BRA) - Qualified by winning the Liga ANB3x3 in Brazil
    São Paulo DC (BRA) - Participated in Mexico City Masters and Montreal Masters
