The two top finishing teams will also win a spot in the baseball tournament for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Just six teams will compete in Tokyo for baseball’s return to the Games since being cut from 2012. It’s a brief return, however. Baseball and softball are among the group of five sports added to the Tokyo 2020 program on a one-time basis to take advantage of the sporting tastes of the host city. Karate, skateboard, sport climbing and surfing are the other one-short additions approved for Tokyo by the IOC.
