ATRadio: New Date for World Games
(ATR) The International World Games is one of the first events to be affected in the cascade of consequences from the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics to next year as a result of the corona virus pandemic.
With more than 30 sports and 4000 athletes from 100+ nations, the next edition was scheduled for late July in 2021 in Birmingham Alabama.
But the postponement of Tokyo to the same time in July has forced the International World Games Association to find an alternate date. Meeting April 2 by teleconference, the leadership of the IWGA voted to move to 2022 where the event will stand on its own.
Nick Sellers, CEO of the Birmingham organizing committee talks to ATR Editor Ed Hula about the change.
